What are masked eyes?
Masked eyes lack visible lid space. Certain eye makeup appears less visible to people who are blindfolded because the eyelids appear to be hidden when you open your eyes. However, while some eye makeup is less easy to create, there are also others that flatten drooping eyelids, such as trimming the crease.
How do I know if I have a blind eye?
To check if you have a hazy eye, take a mirror and check the shape of your eyes, if you don't notice the crease and the skin hangs down from your brow bone to your lash line, you probably have a hazy eyelid. If you can't see most of the makeup on your eyelids when you open your eyes and look straight ahead, that's another good sign that you might be blindfolded.
Hooded Eye Makeup Do's and Don'ts
Masked eyes have their own nuanced list of needs, so read on to find out the do's and don'ts of applying makeup on masked eyes.
Always keep your eyes open when applying makeup.
It sounds unconventional, and it is, but when you're blindfolded, you have very little eyelid space. When using eyeshadow, keep it in your natural creases so that you can see it on your visible eyelids when you open your eyes. Go a step further and try trimming the crease to simulate a higher eye crease.
Choose a long-lasting, waterproof formula.
Covered eyes lack lid space, so it's not uncommon for makeup to bleed and transfer to the upper lid. Avoid this by using an eye primer and opt for a waterproof and smudge-resistant eye makeup formula, such asL'Oreal Paris Infallible Grip Precision Felt Waterproof EyelineryL'Oréal Paris Infallible Grip Mechanical Gel Eyeliner。
stick to the fine lines
When applying eyeliner to the eyes, keep the lines fine. Heavy lines, especially eyeliner, can accentuate the eyes and make them appear smaller.
tighten your waterline
By extending the waterline, the eyes will appear smaller, which is the opposite of what you want for masked eyes. Choose from a taut waterline or invisible liner, then apply eyeliner to the upper lash line to create the illusion of fuller lashes and an understated look.
use the right tools
Small blending brushes are essential for hooded eye makeup, allowing you to blend your look in a compact area. Avoid using large blending brushes, as they can apply too much eye shadow and make the eye makeup look heavy.
Do not choose dark colors
Dark eyeshadow can make your eyes look heavy. When using eye shadow that covers the eyes, choose a lighter shade and take the time to blend up and out for a more elevated look. If you want to use darker shadesCreate a smoky eye look, mix it with a lighter shade to make sure it's not all you can see when you open your eyes.
Don't choose thick lashes
If you like to wear false eyelashes, exaggerated false eyelashes can make your eyes look droopy. Opt for a lighter, thinner style to brighten up your eyes.match your false eyelashesUse a lengthening mascara like thisL'Oreal Paris Instant Retractable Washable Mascara.
